Out & About

Portreath is ideally located to reach all that Cornwall has to offer with minimum travel time.  We are 5 minutes from the A30 which runs through the spine of the county making attractions such as the Eden Project, St Michael’s Mount & St Ives no more than forty five minutes drive.

Walking...

Dolphin house is situated directly on the South West Coastal Footpath which runs down from Perranporth and St Agnes and continues on towards Gwithian and Hayle.  The sections around Portreath are renowned for their breath taking scenery, dramatic cliffs and intriguing history of smuggling, wrecking and mining.  We can arrange kit transfers for walkers or just click the second link below.

Cycling...

Heading inland from the granite harbour right past our front door is the Portreath to Devoran Mineral Tramway.  Once used to transport coal and ore back and forth to the busy harbours on either side of the county it has now been cleared and surfaced for use as a cycle way which literally takes you back through the industrial history of Cornwall.

The beach...

Two minutes walk around the harbour takes you to the beach which is ideal for all ages.  Perfect for surfers of all abilities as well as some of the best rock pooling, caves and historical quirks.  The beach is lifeguarded from the second week in May until the end of September.

Our friends at West Cornwall Adventure offer a whole host of fun and safe activities in and around the sea at Portreath, click the link to check them out.
